    Correspondence to clients whether over the phone, email  or post arranging appointments, diary management
    To deal with all incoming and outgoing post and able to sort accordingly.

    We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic ICT Technician to provide first line support for hardware, software and user issues.  The role of IT Technician involves supporting the staff and students, as well as diagnosing and troubleshooting basic problems with IT equipment. It is a varied role, providing plenty of challenges and is a great opportunity to learn.  It would be highly suitable for someone starting their IT career that has a great passion and aptitude for Information Technology.  The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

    1) Desktop & Application Support

    Connect, set up and check PCs and peripherals for normal operation.

    Perform routine maintenance tasks, including installing basic software packages and setting common options.

    Perform basic PC hardware repairs and upgrades.

    Maintain common hardware found in school; install applications and trouble-shoot basic problems.

    Detect, diagnose and resolve PC, peripheral and application errors.

    2) Server & Network support         

    Set up hardware and perform basic checking of networked PCs.

    Perform routine tasks to maintain user accounts and permissions, including implementing disk space and printer quota policies.

    3) Health & Safety

    Follow relevant H&S procedures and raise awareness among staff, students and other users.

    B: The support and management of the school’s ICT service

    1) Configuration & Installation

    Update records of installed hardware and software; maintain a software library and store original copies of installed applications.

    2) Continuity, Maintenance & Security

    Follow routine maintenance procedures.

    Follow school backup, virus protection and security procedures.

    3) Support Request Management

    Record accurately and investigate requests for support, retrieve details of similar requests and either resolve or escalate to the appropriate level.

    Respond to support requests according to school procedures, recording detailed diagnostic information and using appropriate knowledge bases/logs to inform diagnosis and resolution.

    Determine whether an immediate solution is both required and possible; ensure steps are taken to find a permanent solution if not immediately possible.

    The apprentice will be working alongside the IT Team at the school to provide a range of ICT Support Services.  They will respond to helpdesk queries and provide technical advice and guidance to both support and teaching staff. They will work with students to support their IT accounts e.g. password resets and dealing with issues within the classroom as well as fixing problems quickly and efficiently with appropriate support. The successful applicant will gain an all round knowledge of supporting all aspects of IT in a large multi-user site.  No two days will be the same.
