Hannah Scally is a Level 3 Business Admin Apprentice here at ITEC. Hannah started with us in April 2013 – she carries out reception duties, is an exam invigilator and administrator and assists all the ITEC team with their admin needs. Hannah was a finalist in the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ category at the Basildon District Business Awards in 2014.
What were your thoughts and plans about your future career when you were coming up to leaving school?
After finishing college I knew I wanted to get a full time job rather than go to university, so looked into different options that would help me towards that route.
Why did you choose an apprenticeship after school or college?
I chose an apprenticeship after college as it gave me an opportunity to gain valuable work experience as well as qualifications which will increase my knowledge and prospects for the future.
What was it like working for your employer? What did your job entail?
Working for my employer is very enjoyable, my role is very varied and no two days are the same! I am given lots of responsibility and opportunities to increase my knowledge and skills.
What skills and knowledge have you gained through your apprenticeship?
I have gained a lot of job knowledge and business skills which I can use in my future, I will continue to develop in my role and have found the apprenticeship to be an excellent learning platform.
What would you say to other young people thinking about taking up an apprenticeship?
I would highly recommend taking up an apprenticeship as it gives you a great opportunity to gain work experience and qualifications whilst earning a wage. It gives you the skills and qualifications needed for your future.
